Riverdale Country School – Annual Fundraiser
This is the video for the 2011 Annual Fundraiser for the Riverdale Country School, produced by Paul Dewey, deweymedia + partners. With this video, we took a slightly different approach than we did with previous projects with Riverdale. We augmented the somewhat traditional approach of interviews interspersed with b-roll with custom-tailored and distinctive graphics. This allowed us to better brand the video to the Riverdale Country School’s mission statement while building off of a working foundation to fully articulate what the client wanted to express.
The Riverdale Country School’s mission is centered around the three principles of mind, character, and community – all of which are immediately mentioned in this video, which automatically frames the video around Riverdale’s brand. Following that, text saying “get involved” goes across the screen, underscoring the words of a young student. This establishes the theme and goal of the video, quickly and clearly, after identifying some of the broader principles of the larger brand.
The visual style, bolstered by some simple effects and creative editing choices, keeps the video interesting and clarifies the message. By combining a tried and true base with some experimental (though not too wild) additions, we were able to create a unique and compelling product that satisfied both our client and our creative drive.
