Where did the New Microsoft Campaign Come From: A John Lennon Film?
And now a little backstory on a prior post about a much vaunted Microsoft animated TV commercial campaign… So how do you turn a 14 year old’s interview with a celebrity into a career as an animator? You do what Jerry Levitan did in 1969. Levitan followed John Lennon, from a meeting at Toronto airport to his hotel room and wangled an interview with the Beatles lead man. Then he turned the inteview into an animated film that was nominated as the best short animated film at the 2008 Oscars. Here’s a link to the story in Paste Magazine. The Micrsoft campaign sure looks like the work of Levitan’s team members to me.
