Paul Dewey – Writer/Producer/ Director

The two Pauls (Ron and Dewey) met when Paul Dewey interviewed Ron Paul for a documentary Dewey was producing, Farmageddon, examining excessive government regulation of food products from small farms across the country.

Paul cut his producing teeth creating TV commercials for New York City advertizing agencies — Ogilvy & Mather and BBDO. He produced TV and radio commercials for accounts such as American Express, Hallmark, Visa, Maxwell House, Duracell, Avon and Hardees. Paul also worked on Owens Corning ‘Pink Panther’ animation commercials, as well as computer animated Pepsi and GE commercials. At night he took classes at film school.

In 1989, newly married, Paul and his wife moved to Hollywood, where he produced network promos and then TV movies. He also read nearly a thousand (more than 90% bad) TV & movie scripts.

In 1993 the couple returned east with a son. Paul graduated with a masters degree in journalism from Columbia University in 1994. This built on his undergraduate degree from Duke University where he studied Public Policy and Economics. After Columbia Paul wrote for the NY Daily News, Newsday and the NY Observer, he contributed to a piece in Rolling Stone and he went on to work as a freelance producer for CNBC and the Food TV Network; and a daughter joined the family.

In the fall of 1995 Paul joined CNN to launch its fledgling (now shuttered) financial network CNNfn under Lou Dobbs. He created four half hour programs, including one covering the media business and a second covering personal finance. He was then promoted to work in and subsequently to run CNN’s personal finance unit. The segments of the program he ran, YOUR MONEY, were aired more than any other segments in the inventory of CNN USA news content.

In early 2000 Paul and his family and three Siamese cats moved to Boston to manage content development and build a video production facility for Gomez Advisors, an Internet Consulting firm with more than 140 employees. He created a daily news minute on CBS radio stations in major markets around the country and created content relationships with major news magazines and media outlets.

In 2002 Paul joined a Boston video production company where he produced video projects for clients such as Bain Capital Ventures, Monster, MIT’s Institute for Solider Nanotechnologies, Boston’s Museum of Science, Charles River Ventures, Perkins School for the Blind, Waters Corp, Thermo, Lawrenceville School, Mellon, Riverdale Country School and MRC.

In early 2008 Paul launched deweymedia + partners with the vision of creating high-concept media projects for the web and other media delivery platforms. Paul says that deweymedia + partners will “be laser focused on playing to our strengths as first class journalists and creative, mission-oriented film makers.” Paul and his partners have consolidated their experience from journalism, advertising and Hollywood to create a hard to find, video and filmmaking skill set.

Paul is Board Chairman of his community TV station, CCTV, where he teaches TV production to youth and adults. He’s also a member of the Concord Free Public Library Committee plus he is a board member of Concord Conserves.

There’s lots of great work here on the site that David and Paul have produced.
