KFC Spec Shot
Funny Video
We shot this spec TV spot (above) for KFC for an entry in a contest. Silly stuff. Perhaps it’s as peculiar as it is funny. It was a ton of fun making the piece, but we doubt Paul will be winning an Emmy for his portrayal of the in-bred farmer stalking his escapee chicken any time soon.
Here at deweymedia we take our work extremely seriously, but that doesn’t mean that we always take ourselves seriously. Having a good sense of humor and not being paralyzingly uptight all the time is essential to us as a business.
Increasingly some companies like KFC, Doritos, Dannon Yogurt, and many others have turned to crowd sourcing advertisements through video contests – like the one in which we entered this video for KFC. It’s an interesting phenomenon that has the potential to reap large benefits for everyone involved. The winners of these contests, sometimes with minimal experience, often are commissioned a large fee for their work as well as having their product potentially seen by millions of people. The company, of course, gets to take their pick from thousands of creative submissions and not necessarily spend as much money as they would for a professional agency to develop a commercial for the company.
We’ve done a few amusing videos which still work in communicating a specific message. To see more of these kind of lighthearted and jocular videos, click here.
